Last tour of Paintings and Drawings by Gordon Davidson May 30 - end August, 2008
Brodies LLP will launhed the 3rd run of Gordon Davidson's Around The World In 80 Pictures in their Edinburgh Office at 15 Atholl Crecent, Edinburgh EH3 8HA. The exhibition ran for three months from May 30, 2008. A selection of images of paintings and drawings is included below with Gordon's profile. About Gordon Davidson Since leaving Glasgow School of Art, Gordon Davidson has exhibited widely throughout Scotland and gained international recognition for his art work.
Gordon's first solo exhibition was Space Kids which received national coverage on Reporting Scotland on BBC and Get Fresh on ITV. He had a solo exhibition of his drawings in Ohowa, Canada, and was chosen as one of ten artists to represent Scotland in an international exhibition in Denmark.
Gordon is probably best known for his moody, atmospheric paintings of the west coast of Scotland. He calls these, his Blue Mountains paintings. This style, using gouache paint, he now uses to capture landscapes from around the world.
80 x 70 cm Acrylic on canvas Gordon is also known for his film work. He has produced Pop videos, the Arran Walk films, and a series of documentaries called Artefact about contemporary Scottish artists. Durring his filming of Don McNeil and Jean Bell he became much influenced by their work and since then has spent time with them learning how to paint more expressive work.
